About me

Hi 🖐

I’m Renato Golia, a software architect working primarily with .NET, AWS, and Azure. I was born in Naples, Italy, and I have lived in Stockholm, Sweden, since 2008.

I design backend systems, APIs, and cloud infrastructure. Most of my work involves ASP.NET Core, distributed systems, infrastructure as code, and the tooling needed to build, test, and operate them.

I also run Insight Architectures, through which I provide architecture and software development consulting.

Open source and community

I maintain several open-source projects and .NET packages, mostly focused on making other developers’ work more efficient. They include tooling for AWS configuration, ASP.NET Core APIs, and developer workflows.

I also speak about .NET, APIs, cloud architecture, and lessons from real implementation work.

About this blog

On this blog I write about problems I encounter while building and operating real systems: ASP.NET Core, contract-first APIs, testing, AWS, infrastructure as code, source generators, and developer tooling.

The articles are aimed at experienced developers. I try to stay concrete, explain the trade-offs, and avoid presenting an approach as cleaner or better without saying what it improves and what it costs.

Outside work, I enjoy board games, video games, photography, and science-fiction and fantasy books.
